I was looking for items that I could re-purpose and sell to make some extra cash. Of course my husband and I fell in love with the first find. I found an ad for a toy box on craigslist.com that this mans Grandpa had made for him 30 years ago. He wanted $20 for it. Sold! The 3 boxes are on rollers and my daughter can actually sit in them and we can push her around. She says "I'm racing! Push me faster mommy!"...
So our plan is to keep some of the hard floors exposed and buy some of that yellow duct tape to make yellow road stripes on the floors so they can race around in the boxes. How fun will those memories be!
Testing out my DIY skills to make our home modern and kid friendly without breaking the bank, and never taking anything too seriously along the way.

Here it goes....
How exciting is this!? A blog, for me? Thank you for stopping in! I have wanted to do this for quite sometime, and now that I am I'm kicking myself for not taking more pictures of my projects and posting things sooner.
So, I've been wanting to get some pictures up of this new project house for awhile. I'm always so thankful to find pictures of other peoples projects online when I need an idea or tip. I hope some of the photos I will post can help others who want an inspiration with their designs. I've got so many ideas swirling in my head.
Tonight, after the super bowl game (which was awesome, because I really wanted the Packers to win!), I went down stairs and painted one little wall with some chalkboard paint.
Yesterday I painted the basement office/guest room.
2 Days ago I primed all the doors and door frames and about a week ago, I painted all the wood paneling down stairs.
I guess you could say that there's been a lot of painting going on.
My hubby will finally have a proper place to work. A place that doesn't make him feel like he's being interrogated or tortured, with a light dangling over head that flickers and wood paneling closing in on him. Oh! and all the cob webs are gone too!
Here's a pic of part of the downstairs before...
What do I get out of all this, besides a lot of painting? I get a place down stairs where all the toys can go so that I don't have to see all the toys upstairs all the time. We will have a room that family can sleep in comfortably now and a place where we can do our crafts, be as loud and crazy as we want and as messy as we want. Then we can all go upstairs and shut the door behind us, and leave it if we want! Yes!
This is quite an adventure we're going on. I'm on a mission to turn this house into a fun and cozy place for our family. A house that's modern and eclectic, with a little rustic twist to it. This ride should be fun, and I am so glad that you've decided to stop by to join me!
I will post pictures of the finished product soon....it's still getting there. I'll try to have a number of pictures of the project along the way.
Here's a small peak at it. Fireplace will be painted too!
I'm loving that new Craigs List toy box I found! Now to update it too...
